For the most part I have used many of these tools for bullet journaling but because I take them everywhere I go, they can be used for analog sketchnotes as well. I will put some tools that are widely used for graphic recording in a separate section below.

What is bullet journaling you ask? Well click the button below to see my presentation materials. Additionally, following me on instagram to see my posts of my bullet journal.

I would also like to state that you could use Crayola markers, highlighters, pencils, erasers, and ball point pens. Your everyday common classroom items. The following are things that I have used time and time again, and I literally take them everywhere with me. Click the image to go to Amazon. My opinions are in the text  to the right of the image.
Tombow Dual Tip Markers have a brush tip end and bullet tip end, so you can get nice broad strokes as well as fine tip accuracy. They are one of the preferred markers for people doing fancy lettering. They additionally are watercolor markers so you can spread the color over wider areas with a wet paint brush. Or a watercolor brush pen (see this below).
This is a nice paper, a nice heavier weight to help stop "bleeding" and "ghosting" of your pens. It has a dot grid pattern to help with all drawings (lettering and straight lines etc.) The price isn't bad either.
If you want more of a journal, this is a good option in terms of price and weight of paper. I have used three of these journals personally. This includes numbered pages, index, a pen loop, and a back pocket to stuff things in.
If you aren't quite sure, this is a GREAT product. It is missing some of the bells and whistles you get with the journal above but you can get a 2pack for the price of one journal.
Especially when I am drawing something I haven't before, as well as when I am trying to get a specific spacing of something down I will draw lightly in pencil and then erase. You need a good eraser, and I love this one.
So I do enjoy a good mechanical pencil and this is one that I have used for a couple years now.
I probably should have put this up towards the top- there is really no order to the supplies here. But if there was, these would be in the top. I can't do anything without these highlighters. They are my absolute favorite thing. They have a chisel tip on one and a bullet tip on the other and the color choices are my jam. Can't say enough how much I love these.
Finally you need a fine tip pen, these are permanent which means they will not bleed if you draw with this first and then fill in color with the mildliners above. That is important. I have had a few things ruined when the pen wasn't permanent. My go to thickness is also a .5.
