Draw Your Day

More recently I have come across a fabulous artist on instagram that wrote a book about drawing your day. Now technically she focuses on watercolor and line art, but I really like the idea of doing something similar to help increase your visual vocabulary.

Last summer I did a day in the life following a prompt from Karin Perry who also wrote a book about Sketchnoting in School. Scroll to the bottom of the post to see that sketchnote.
Click the image to see the original book, where she talks about tools and techniques.
Click the image to see her companion journal that has prompts to guide you through the practice of drawing your day.
Click below to see Samantha's Instagram profile, her images are beautiful and a great source of information.

I made this page a little while ago but never shared. I decided to draw it at a moment when the area was flooded with tourists, and I could barely cross the street to my building. Also a moment of appreciation for a spot that is a destination for people all over the world, and I get to see multiple times a day. I’m feeling a little down today because I am missing my boys who are both out of contact on summer trips, and looking back at this page makes me feel a little better ❤️ #sdionbakersketchjournal #minisketchbook #dailysnapshot #illustratedjournal #journal #drawyourday #sdbdrawyourday

You give it a try, try thinking about your day from start to end and draw it out as a sketchnote.
