The One About Why You Should Sketchnote In your Classroom

Why should you sketchnote in your classroom?

1. It's a holistic learning approach; uses kinesthetic, auditory, linguistic, and verbal modalities. When you can also pull up your own personal information and emotions to a symbol or picture attached to what you are learning your retention goes through the roof. 
2. Produces chemicals in your brain for pleasure and stress relief. 
3. Connects ideas in your brain to improve retention and deeper learning. Your brain loves story telling and visual images. Give your brain what it wants. 
4. Dual Coding Theory- suggests you can learn new vocabulary and content when you add a visual image to the verbal information you are taking in. 
5. Can allow for bigger picture thinking and project planning. 
6. It's another tool in the toolbox for your students, especially for those that don't take to regular outline or Cornell style notes.
